How to report a Cyber Incident

What is a cyber incident?

Cyber incidents can take many forms, such as denial of service, malware, ransomware or phishing attacks.

Types of activities that are commonly recognised as being a cyber incidents are:

  • breaches of a system’s security policy that affects its integrity or availability
  • attempts to gain unauthorised access to a system or to data
  • changes to a system’s firmware, software or hardware without the system owner’s consent
  • malicious disruption or denial of service

How to report a Suspicous email

The National Cyber Security Centre allow you to forward suspicous emails to them, so that they can review the email and work towards getting the people that sent it. This helps everyone to be safe. To do this forward the email to report@phishing.gov.uk Please also share a screentshot of the email with us and we will add to our archive for everyone to see and be aware of.

 

How to report a Suspicous website

The National Cyber Security Centre allow you to report suspicious websites that you feel are trying to scam you and they will investigate, click the button to be forwarded to their page.

 

How to report a Suspicous text message

Most phone providers allow you to report suspicious text messages for free by fowarding them to 7726. If this doesn’t work contact your network service proivder to find out how you can report them.

 

Hve you been hacked or lost money?

If you have lost money or been hacked as a result of responding to a phishing message or from a phone call visit the Action Fraud Website of give them a call on 0300 123 2040
